Speaking of "loss"........we are needing to say fond farewell to one of the most prolific and powerful Spiritual Teacher of our era.
José Argüelles (January 24, 1939 - March 23, 2011) is a Mexican-American author, artist, and educator. He is the founder of Planet Art Network and the Foundation for the Law of Time. He holds a Ph.D. in Art History and Aesthetics from the University of Chicago, and has taught at numerous colleges, including Princeton University and the San Francisco Art Institute. He is the twin brother of poet Ivan Argüelles. As one of the originators of the Earth Day concept, Argüelles founded the first Whole Earth Festival in 1970, at Davis, California.
José Argüelles is known for his role in organizing the Harmonic Convergence event of 1987, and his book The Mayan Factor: Path Beyond Technology, published the same year.In The Mayan Factor Argüelles devises a complicated numerological system by combining elements taken from the pre-Columbian Maya calendar with the I Ching and other esoteric influences, interspersed with concepts drawn from modern sciences such as "genetic codes" and "galactic convergences". The book first popularized the Hunab Ku design as a symbol within New Age discourse, after altering its appearance from that originally presented by Mexican anthropologist Domingo Martínez Parédez ( 1904–1984 ) in his 1953 publication Hunab Kú: Síntesis del pensamiento filosófico maya.
Argüelles produced "Dreamspell: The Journey of Timeship Earth 2012" and a game/tool "Telektonon: The Talking Stone of Prophesy". The former is the source of Arguelles' 13 Moon/28 Day Calendar. This calendar begins on July 26 (helical rising of the star Sirius) and runs for 364 days. The remaining date, July 25, is celebrated in some quarters as the "Day out of Time". (Wikipedia)

CHANGE INVOLVES LOSS

Someone on one of our Reconnections Discussion Lists forwarded a neat Astrological Article about last Saturday's Supermoon. In the article, she mentioned "Change Involves Loss." This phrase immediately caused my insides to start churning.As I ponder the many lives which have ended in Japan, around this Earthquake and Tsunami......I find myself grieving with those whose mothers, fathers, children, and siblings....neighbors and friends were suddenly swept away! Like a thief in the night! With 15 mins warning........and now they're gone.
I heard a great interview the other night, with the Chairman/CEO of Sony Corp......an English fellow........about the attitude and ways of the Japanese people as they meet this crisis.
For days now, I've been saying to myself: "I'm used to seeing these kinds of traumas happening in third world countries.......and it's tragic and horrible when it does. But to see something this extreme happen to a FIRST WORLD Country.....a major player in the World Economy.....it's a double shock!"
As he spoke about the Japanese People, the Chairman of Sony had deep admiration and respect in his voice. He said:
"I've never seen such patience and resolve in a people as I am observing in Japan. People just gather together and go to work. If one of them has a need, the others pitch in to fill it. There is NO LOOTING. ZERO. No taking advantage of people's weaknesses. If one village needs supplies, another village will put together a make-shift boat to send supplies along. It's a powerful lesson just watching these people as they begin to rebuilt. And REBUILD THEY WILL!
In times of ease and plenty, people can get very LAZY and COMPLACENT. For whatever reason, life has dealt the Japanese a tough "hand" of cards. And they WILL RISE to the occasion. They will rebuilt with such fervor......the world will stand back in awe."
That's when it hit me. One definitive reason this has happened to Japan, at this time in Earth's History.......is for an OBJECT LESSON IN TRANSFORMATION......THROUGH PAIN AND INTO GROWTH. In a way, our wonderful Asian Neighbors are saying to us: "Pay Attention. This is how it's done." (They would never say this, but the message is there, to be sure). And the whole world is watching.
And yes.......all change involves some degree of LOSS. And I'll simply have to keep trusting in the wisdom of ALL THAT IS......as to why and when these things happen. And if I'm willing to wait long enough, the wisdom usually comes.

Japan Earthquake: Largest (for that country) in Recorded History (9.0)
There have been continuous earthquakes or aftershocks up to 5.0 every ten minutes or so. and if that don't shock you not much else will. Must be difficulty to manage if you are trying to pull yourself together after the Big one. This geological movement is not done yet. Mama Earth needs prayer and consideration for she is in great distress as she is battered by wave after wave of solar activity. ~Kessie Amponsah, London.
Earthquake --- Tsunami ---- Volcanic Eruption
The core event(s) seem to be subsiding. But the DISASTER has just begun. Not only are we looking at countless deaths, aftershocks, failed utilities and broken buildings---now they're looking a meltdown in a Major Nuclear Reactor, perhaps several.
Are those Unidentified Flying Objects circling the base of the Volcano? And what about that eerie glow at the base as well?
Quite a Day.........for a Day that's supposed to be the beginning of a Major Evolution on Planet Earth: 3/11/2011.
COMING OF AGE: IT WON'T BE LONG!
I was speaking with a friend today about all the crap going down in State Legislature---the Union Busting and manipulations. And she flat-out said: "I don't know if I'll be around when it all comes to fruition---but I do know that these kids today are not going to put up with much more of this political stuff when it comes time for them to take over the helm of Planet Earth. Someone had mentioned to me once: "What do the Star Kids have to say about these debts that are being left for them, and all the raucous spending that's happening on this generation's watch?" And I immediately could feel their voice inside me. So I responded: "The Star Kids (and other CNE's) are simply waiting around (not so patiently anymore) for their elders to wear down playing with all their political "toys." They tell me......'Go ahead! Do what you have to do--run up debts and piss everyone off with your manipulations. And then, when you're done.....just please......get out of the way, so we can rebuild."
Star Kids don't run on "debt" and "obligation." They don't function out of "duty"........unless they're still asleep to who and what they are....entranced by the propaganda of their elders.....clinging to conformity. Once an awakening happens, all that goes by the wayside. What was once important ceases to have meaning. A whole new set of values steps to the forefront.
Our kids today are smart enough to realize that there has always been enough substance in the world to support its people. There has always been enough to go around. All we have to do is begin FEELING the NEED, and recognizing that every part of humanity belongs to every other part. And that realization doesn't have to give birth to huge humanitarian relief movements, either. Remember..........the realization about humanity belonging to itself will happen AT ALL LEVELS, when the time is right for it to happen. We're not talking about a "thunderbolt out of the blue" that hits only rich people, motivating them to give. We're talking about a multi-national, multi-generational REALIZATION that arrives, spontaneously, in the heart of every man, woman, and child. A realization that says: "It no longer has to be this way."
Done. End of story. The givers will begin giving AND the receivers will open to receive. That doesn't mean they'll begin TAKING, either. It simply means that minds and hearts will begin to energize in ways that will naturally magnetize sustenance into their lives----in the same way that their current beliefs de-magnetize sustenance away from them now.

Salman Khan’s breadth of knowledge is not only remarkable, but his ability to turn ideas into reality is extremely impressive as well. In around 20 minutes, Mr. Salman Khan talks about the concepts we have been hearing and shows some really cool demos. The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit educational organization created by Salman Khan. With the stated mission of “providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere”, the website supplies a free online collection of over 2,200 micro lectures via video tutorials stored on You Tube---teaching mathematics, history, finance, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and economics.
What started out as Sal making a few algebra videos for his cousins has grown to over 2,100 videos and 100 self-paced exercises and assessments covering everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history. City Pages in the Twin Cities has an expose of standardized test-grading from the temps who grade student essays.“For the most part, we didn’t teach kids with the computer, we taught them how to use the computer. Most kids need no help and could probably teach their parents.” Shantanu Sinha, the President of Khan Academy, stated in a piece for the Huffington Post. He added that, “in the end, computer labs were a side show, expensive investments largely squandered due to a lack of good content or purpose........."
