Star Child Spotlight On..........
To introduce Vienna, I'd like to say that it's rare to experience such wisdom in someone so young. But that isn't the case anymore, is it? Our Star Kids are awakening now, and the effects of their genius are moving out, like ripples in a Grand Stream of Consciousness. And Vienna Teng is certainly tapped into that, flowing through lyrics of amazing profundity, cradled in melodies of gentle wonder, like brush strokes on a fine oriental tapestry.
She is very American in her ways, but her ethnicity is not forsaken, by any means! I first encountered her work as background for a You Tube piece on the character of Allie, from the Spielberg mini-series "Taken." The words and energy of the piece were so perfect and compelling, I just had to find out more about who wrote and sang them. And I'm so glad that I did.
Vienna Interview: "Dreaming Through the Noise"
By Vienna Teng
we are not together here
though we lie entwined
to make room for the other presence
we both draw back in our minds
I have a prophecy
threatening to spill into words
this growing certainty
there once was a time I was sure of the bond
when my hands and my tongue and my thoughts were enough
we are the same but our lives move along
and the third one between replaces what once was love
freedom is being alone
I fear liberation
but something more alive than silence
no pleasing drama
in subtle averted eyes
the swelling fermata
as the chord dies
there's no denying we feel the third one
I'm tired of hiding and so are you
